Leadership Roles

Dr. Faraday has held numerous clinical, research, and academic leadership roles at Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Hospital. His servant leadership style is predicated on finding ways to align the mission at hand with the values and motivations of the people involved, so the mission can move forward to fruition.

His leadership positions include:

  • Sr. Associate Dean for Faculty Appointments and Promotions, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2020 - present)

  • Sr. Associate Dean for Faculty Development, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2017-2020)

  • Director, Clinical Research, Department of Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine (2015-2024)

  • Vice-Chair of Faculty, Department of Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine (2014-present)

  • Co-Chair, JHU School of Medicine Associate Professor Promotions Committee

  • Director, Perioperative Genomic and Translational Research, Department of Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine

  • Director, Perioperative Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Laboratory, Department of Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine

  • Co-Director, Cardiac Surgical ICU, Johns Hopkins Hospital

Teaching

Dr. Faraday’s teaching focuses on issues related to perioperative hemostasis and thrombosis, including: mechanisms and management of perioperative bleeding, transfusion management, postoperative thrombotic complications (MI, stroke, VTE), and management of antithrombotic agents. He has led one of the largest national meetings on perioperative medicine, i.e. the Johns Hopkins Perioperative Management Course, which draws 300-500 participants annually from across the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

In addition, he has mentored post-baccalaureates, post-doctoral fellows and residents in laboratory, translational and clinical research projects and has served as a mentor in career development processes for faculty throughout the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
